Star Ocean Series
Animal, Inanimate | |
Petrification features as an in-battle status effect in all three games.
It is only featured in the story of the first game, as a virus spread throughout the planet Roak.
Petrified characters cannot move or be attacked. The effect is permanent until cured.

There are currently two other games in the series which I have not
listed here, as their content is unknown to me. These are:
Star Ocean 4
(PS3, not yet released) and Star Ocean: Blue Sphere
(GBC 2001, JP only).
It's likely they will both feature petrification at least; status
effect lists seem to be one of those things that RPG developers
tend not to change across their games.

Since SO1 and 2 are 2D games, they're probably less interesting
than SO3.
I'll try to get around to taking some screenshots to add to the
article.
SO3 is very good for this stuff, in my opinion.
It's possible, with some perseverance (and luck), to freeze or
petrify a character in just about any pose from their animation
set.
I will add some details on doing this yourself in this thread.

I also believe SO3 would be great for some erotic "transfiction"
because of... that
part of the story. If you don't know what that
part of the story is, and you're interested in playing the game,
for goodness sake don't click the message below, otherwise...

Uhh... "creative juices"?
I think I should have worded that a little differently... O_o;

There is a more obvious potential TG here... unfortunately it still
gives things away...
