A Sword and Sorcery style piece on a very low budget, and it shows.
Only one seen of any interest. A guard transforms into Barbi Benton
with the Camera altering between shots of him and shots of her. The
transfromed man attempts to seduce the hero. Unfortunatley the hero
has other ideas for her. The story is very weak and the
transformations are dated. The seen mentioned is the only good one.

The TG scene is okay, but the movie itself is mainly just one of
many campy sword and sorcery movies out there. If you have a place
that has cheap rentals its worth a rent to laugh at, but I don't by
any means reccomend this movie for buying at all.

Overall this is a movie that fans of John Norman's Gor should see.
Lots of semi-nude slave girls among barbarian warriors. There are
two versions, one tamer and more clothed than the other. Some
scenes in each version are missing in the other. The tame version
has some more shots of Barbi Benton's princess, but we are denied a
good look at her Playboy model body.
There are so many bad sword and sorcery movies (like Kevin Sorbo's
KULL) that DEATHSTALKER stands up pretty well. The transformed
guard is only in two scenes, but both of them I would rate as very
good. I saw the other 3 Deathstalker movies later, but the first is
the best, and its the only one with any TG element.

the fact being bad can also result in a good movie just because you
think it's bad doesn't mean that it's bad to other people learn to
get your facts straight bub

Just last night it Deathstalker appeared on satellite and I got it
on my DVR. I'm glad some people liked the movie, because I did,
too. It gets my vote for the best of the low-budget s&s films.
I think they did a lot with their low budget, and it was bold of
them to do a world suggestive of Gor (the books, not the bungled
movies). Deathstalker is lively, active, its characters are simple
but vividly presented, and the girls are beautiful -- especially
Barbi Benton, who was so stunning in those days that it's a shame
that her other movies are so hard to find. The other three DS
movies don't follow in the mold of the first one, fall flat, and
it's hard to remember what any of them were even about.
Hmmm. I only once saw on tv the tamer version. Somebody should
splice the racy version with the extra scenes from the tamer
version and keep the better scenes of the two where they duplicate
each other. Like, who needs to see Barbi dressed up when she
doesn't have to be? ;-)

It's been a favorite of mine for well over 13 years. However it is
a little disappointing because I always though the guard should
have remained in her form as punishment for failing to kill
deathstalker
