The alien leader is called Mabus, but his consciousness is so
powerful, a normal husk (human bodies the aliens grow for
themselves to developed, that is mixed with a little alien DNA)
isn't strong enough to house him. They keep trying to find him a
body, but apparently the host has to be strong of mind, not just
strong of body, to house Mabus.
In the episode "The Vessel", Mabus possesses some head of a
computer company, and then the heroes, Cade and Jordan intercept
him to try to 'enlighten' him about the alien invasion, not knowing
its Mabus. They figure it out at the last moment, but then Jordan
is trapped in a room alone with him. She reaches for a gun, while
Cade tries to break down the door. He walks in to find Jordan
advancing on the computer guy with a gun, then suddenly shoots the
guy. Cade's mad that they don't have their prisoner, then suspects
that Mabus is in Jordan, but she denies it and refers to an earlier
conversation, he lowers his guard, until she starts having a
nosebleed, then struggle, then Mabus walks away, and Cade just
can't shoot Jordan's body as the elevator door closes.
Next episode, Requiem, "Jordan" shows up at one of her general's
places in a sexy red dress, then brain drains him with some device,
and Mabus uses Jordan's knowledge to take apart her resistance
force.
In Checkmate, Mabus captures Cade, then slowly breaks down his
resistance, with Lords doing a pretty good "evil" personality as
she saunters around, usually well-dressed and in revealing clothes
while daunting Cade about his love for Jordan and how Mabus is
slowly chipping away at Jordan's mind and knowledge. At one point,
Cade wakes up to see some scientist healing Jordan's body as Mabus'
presence is killing her, though Mabus says he/she is working on
getting a stronger body now. Cade offers up his own body, but Mabus
says no as he likes Jordan's body, and asks if Cade finds it
appealing, which Cade says no, not with Mabus in there.
Later on, they stick Cade in some chamber with some hallucigenic
gas, and then various illusions of his friends pop up and tell him
he's a failure before "Jordan" comes and comforts him, then they
jump into a conveniently placed bed, with "Jordan" smiling
sinisterly several times, then taunting Cade before Cade wakes up,
in his clothes again, and Mabus taunts him from outside.
Cade's friend stage a rescue and manage to subdue Mabus' mind for a
little bit but are forced to leave her behind. Later on, they find
out that Mabus' aim was to get Jordan and Cade to sleep together to
produce a body strong enough to hold him.
A few episodes lateer, when they jump into a future time, they meet
up with Mabus while trying to get some doomsday weapon, and Cade's
forced to shoot Jordan, at which point Mabus flees with the weapon,
but due to time travel stuff, Jordan wakes up unharmed at the alien
compound unharmed as she's supposed to be the boss and rejoins the
heroes.
Checkmate was probably the highlihgt of the possession arc, what
with Mabus taunting Cade for most of the episode about just about
everything, with Jordan's face, voice, hot body, using some
memories and breaking down his resistance, as a symbol to any
dissenters as well as to get his new body.
