An anime series now showing on Cartoon Networks "Adult Swim". In a
post-apocalyptic future where humans live in domed cities
surrounded by wasteland, wolves are assumed to be two hundred years
extinct. Yet wolves do walk among them, disguising themselves as
humans in order to survive in the human world. Now four young
wolves will follow the scent of Lunar Flowers on a dangerous quest
to find that which legend promises them: Paradise.

This is one of the single most important anime series ever, it
single-handedly helped revive the fan side of the industry and
created a digi-sub boom. That is why I love this show. I had waited
for this show for ages when I first heard about it, when I finally
saw it I was amazed. Atmosphere is the body of the show.
From beginning to end this show is presented as a simple
adventure/mystery story, but it is much more than that. There is
far more to praise in this show than a great number of what was on
at the time of its premier in Japan, but this along with Witch
Hunter Robin and Gundam Seed represent the kind of quality that the
current industry is capable of.
Enough Praise...
Yes there is a lot going for it, plot, character designs, music,
atmosphere, character development, but it has one downside, much
like the afore mentioned Witch Hunter Robin, it is essentially an
Evangelion clone. This is not evident until the end of the show,
and it does not hamper the quality of the show, but it does promote
a trend. The ending, unlike Evangelion, is happy, and is the most
amazing ending one could possibly ever wish for out of this show,
but it is a bit cryptic, but satisfying nonetheless.
Wolf's Rain is gold, the kind of gold that we get today. Hopefully
we get more like it in the upcoming years.

Absolutely hate this show, and the other "dark animes" shown on
adult swim. Shows like this, including Witch Hunter Robin, and
Serial Experiment Lain serve one purpose, to show us just how bad
X-files would be... had it been an animation. I cannot stand this
show, the transformations are not there, its a quick cut... then
BAM wolf. Ooh, so purdy. Plus, the characters are painted
via-celshading, so the animation looks just as bad as Zoids or
.hack. As for the story line, Im all up for twists and turns, I am
a huge fan of the Legacy of Kain games, only because of their
plots, but this show has an annoying plot that just leaves you
annoyed. Somebody new dies on each episode, making the loss of life
in a character almost numbing. Id rather go through a show and have
nobody die until the end, and at the end maybe have one character
die. That way you get this feeling of mortality, and you actually
know the character.
Oh no not in this show, we get a new death each episode, with some
sad attempt at a dark annoying plot. I wouldnt suggest this show to
anybody who likes GOOD dark gothic stories, in that case, go out,
rent the movie Dead Man with Johnny Depp if you want good dark,
because you aint going to get it from this show. All you are going
to get is a bitter taste in your mouth, the same taste you get
while watching the extremely annoying x-files knockoff, Witch
Hunter Robin.

While no full transformation is shown, this is an incredible anime
with a great story going for it.

Yes its a good story... shame its been done in Big O, EVA, etc etc
etc.
You can only restart entire existance so many times before it
becomes repetative.

You want to see a good dark gothic anime with fun transformations,
watch Betterman. Wolf Rain is another show that tries to capitalize
on the success of much more compelling shows like CowBoy Beebop but
simply fails on all levels but simply being far too long and drawn
out.
