Magick
Gender | |
Produced by Robert Zemeckis and directed by Tommy O'Haver, 'Magick' will apparently be a mainstream fantasy/comedy adventure movie in which a man and woman switch bodies from the neck down. Plot details are vague at the moment as the whole project is being kept secretive. But so far I gather that th ...more |

This movie has been in the planning stages for 27 months and since
the production team is TIP-TOP , the story has been really revamped
(at least twice I can think of ). . . .the cast was almost set ;
Zemeckis pitched the ideal to Anne Hathaway but no conformation of
acceptance was heard .
There is a story on the Fictionmania web-site called " The Switch "
sounds like this one , only the magician had a heartattack before
they could return to their normal selves . This state was permanent
(due to pregnancy) for the characters , involved .
If Anblim Entertainment does its ususual high-calibre
producting/financing ,this movie should be well worth the wait . .

The movie's DONE , gang ! The post-production is going on as we
speak , and is scheduled for release sometime mid-2008 . Now , will
it be better than " Zerophilia "? If Spielberg's movie team got
everyone they wanted , expect MORE movies like this to come . They
are the BEST ! So , the imitators are watching along with us ;
anticipation makes one hunger .
Here's hoping . . . . .

I would be very interested in hearing what your sources are. sounds

It's from some movie spot on the web . I know I went thru alot ;
one spot I do remember was IMDB . Infact , I'd start looking there
, but you will have to clock sometime to find what you can . . . .

i have no idea what you are saying. clock sometime???
IMDB requires a subscription to its PRO service to view items in
"pre-production" and Magick falls into that category.
In your post, you say, "The movie's done, gang!" so I ask you
again... What is your source of THAT piece of information?

He meant "clock some time",
as in "... but you will have to spend some time to find what you can..."

I've been waiting for "Magick" for some time now however, I heard
that it's a literal body switch movie. That is, they switch heads
and the man is now situated on the woman's body and vice versa!
If that's the case, think I'll pass.

The fact it IS a headswap movie from what I heard is exactly why I
have been looking forward to it. I mean with a headswap they have
no reason to hide as someone else as the face gives it away. It
means they can be themselves with someone elses body. Plus a girls
head on a guys body is cute.

It's a spin on one of the old " Tales From The Crypt " stories from
the mid-1950s , only the switch is done with magic . If the
magician doing the trick has a heartattack someones been at the
FICTIONMANIA web-site ; lab-rat EA.N gave me hardcopy from there
and that's what happened .(in that story)
This movie is said to be more of adventure than anything , a
pilgrimage , if you will , to the original magician of the trick .
The two victims want the trick reversed .
The main goal of the production team is to do something that
everyone else hasn't done with a situation like this before , that
is to take the switch more seriously , to get into the characters
and what they must be going thru due to the swap, including possibly
intimacy . Both " Switch " and " The Hot Chick" did'nt touch on the
intimacy thing ,infact , sex in one flick was only after a few hard
drinks and a bar-fight . The other ,mainly played up to jokes so
hopefully they'll do something close to what " Zerophilia " did . .

I think you mean 'Homage', as a pilgrimage would be a long-distance
journey.

I have my preferences when it comes to TG media, but I always
thought that Tales from the Crypt episode was really cool in a
twisted sort of way. I always wondered what those characters would
do after their heads were swapped. It's too bad (I even think Roger
Ebert said the same thing in his original review of Switch) that
Hollywood never takes any real chances with the story. Nobody ever
really explores the consequences of such a predicament. That's why
I find Cleo/Leo so compelling. Who would have thought ex-porn
filmmakers would take the genre seriously?

This speculation is all well and good, but I've "clocked some time"
and still can't find that this movie is being made. If someone has
a link confirming this, I wish they'd post it.
(Not trying to be lazy; I've looked long and hard for two years for
any info about this movie.)

same here. I pride myself in my searching abilities. and I have
found nothing new in the last two years.
Again I read the original post that says, "this movie is done" yet
I see no proof of that statement.

again ; I do believe I had tapped a pay to view site . . . .

A little more info would be nice, InKpott. I subscribe to imdbPro,
and the movie is still listed as "In Development". The information
was updated on 6 October 2006.
They still list O'Haver as director. Zemeckis, and three others
have production credits. ImageMovers and DreamWorks SKG are the
production companies, with DreamWorks releasing.
O'Haver has a new feature, "An American Crime", coming out this
year. Are you saying that O'Haver directed Magick, while at the
same time, wrote and directed, "An American Crime"? O'Haver also
has another project, "Breakfast with Tiffany", on the docket, again
with writing and directing credits listed.
There is no cast listed for "Magick", and no firm release date,
which makes me wonder how far along this project really is. Sounds
to me like this film is in "development hell".
DreamWorks has nothing on their site about it, and ImageMovers does
not list a website at all.
InKpott, if you have information, would you please share it with
the class? It's not nice to dangle red meat in front of hungry
wolves. As far as I know, imdbPro is one of the most reliable
sources of information there is when it comes to movies. If you
possess other, more reliable information, then, by all means, share
it. Otherwise, your claims have to be dismissed as wild
speculation.

flip_flop_fly, that is the type of post that should be made an
example of. You gave information, and it was in clear ENGLISH!
THANK YOU!

Thank you, Bob. I'm used to being made an example of, though
usually not in a good way. :)
InKpott, I went to the Sci-Fi Channel website, and found a blurb
about a movie with a 2008 release by the name of "Back Magick".
http://www.scifi.com/sfw/news/sfw_news_20060327.html
You will find the story about 3/4 of the way down the page,
entitled, "Levy Works Magick For Fox". I have no idea if this is
what Sci-Fi Channel was referring to when you saw it or not, but I
thought I ought to mention it, in hopes of jogging your memory.
