The Day I Turned into a Babe net fiction Unknown
Gender | |
This short film by suedenim was produced using "The Movies," by Lionhead Studios/Activision.
Impossible as it sounds, one day, after drinking some bad wine coolers, John Teller wakes up as... "Jane" Teller. And nobody remembers it ever being otherwise!

interesting, but maybe an alternate ending, instead of putting on
makeup, the husband he married walks in looking for his wife!

Heh - maybe I'll do that for the sequel! The ending is
intentionally somewhat ambiguous as to what exactly is going on,
avoiding the cheesy "It was all a dream!" by adding the somewhat
less cheesy "...or WAS it????"
But it could go a number of ways.... :)

I really really liked this short. Probably the best TG THE MOVIES
film. One thing I'd like to see different. I think it'd been cool
if Jane let her hair grow out as time went on. I loved how it was
short in the beginning. Best transformation technique I've seen
used with the games engine.

That wouldn't be a bad idea, to gradually grow her hair out in the
"flash forwards." Now that you mention it, I wish I'd thought of
it. :)
The whole "flash forward" sequence was a fairly late addition - if
you check out the first "1946" version of the movie (listed here
under "suedenim - The Day I Turned Into a Dame"), the "female"
portion cuts off with the "chase" scene. It's pretty much the same
script, which I mostly wanted to redo in order to correct some
awful "rookie errors" and try a different "casting" trick (the
first one used the one available "guy in drag" costume.)
BTW (shameless begging!), if you watched and liked the film, it'd
be awesome if you could register on The Movies Online and leave a
review. My movie's actually doing quite well in The Movies Online
ranking, and is even the #19 Comedy as I type. Maybe some "outside"
reviews from TG afficionados will push it over the top! I'll bake
you a virtual cookie or something in compensation! :)

No problem.

To my considerable surprise, this movie got some real-world press
attention today!

One of the best features of The Movies for film nerds is that
you're encouraged to make movies from different eras, so some of
The Movies machinima are "silent films," some are 1940s-style film
noir, and others are bubbly 1980s teen sex romps. As a result, you
get gems such as those made by a filmmaker called Suedenim -- the
"1946 cult hit" The Day I Turned into a Dame, followed by its 2001
remake, The Day I Turned into a Babe. Both are spot-on satires of
"boy turns into a girl and learns a lesson" movies la Switch and
The Hot Chick.

How odd... it was my impression that the whole "1946 cult hit"
thing was a fraud intended to provide some atmosphere to the
"remake". There certainly is no record of such a film on IMDB or
any of the other usual search sources. The only thing that pops up
on IMDB when searching on that title are things like:
The Day a Pig Fell Into the Well
and
Night of the Day of the Dawn of the Son of the Bride of the Return
of the Revenge of the Terror of the Attack of the Evil, Mutant,
Alien, Flesh Eating, Hellbound, Zombified Living Dead Part 2: In
Shocking 2-D
And Wired seems to have a more accurate description of it - listing
it as "...a takeoff on W.C. Fields movies of the 1930s and '40s"

The 1946 movie isn't a "real" movie either, but another version of
the story told with The Movies. There's an entry for it here too,
but the 1946 one was filed under "Movies" and this one under "Net
Fiction."
