Description
It appears Fujiko F. Fujio has beat out quite a number of people in
the creation of the "boy genius" phenomenon most familiar to us
through Dexter's Laboratory and Jimmy Neutron. This particular
collection of stories dating back to the mid 1970's has Kiteretsu
at one point creating a cap for himself that allows his spirit to
leave his body, whereupon he promptly possesses his mothers's form.
After embarrassing him/herself he goes on to possess a cat and
eventually ends up in the body of his girlfriend (Miyoko?), who
herself has ended up in the body of the class bully. The bully in
turn has taken over Kiteretsu's form to deliberately cause trouble.
After some hijinks all is restored, though at the expense of
Kiteretsu's reputation. The manga was turned into a long-running
animated series which reportedly remained faithful to its source
material. To my knowledge, only available in Japanese.
