Possession, Horror, On Video, pub VCI/United
Description
NO, not the bio of the guy who killed Oswald to keep the truth of
the Kennedy assassination secret. This RUBY came out in '77 to
capitalize on the brief horror popularity of star Piper Laurie
following her psycho turn in CARRIE. In this flick Piper plays the
owner of a rundown drive-in theater who killed her mobster
boyfriend decades ago (and cut out his eyes), and now dead
boyfriend has returned as a ghost to get some back from her by
killing off her customers. Several times during this mission, he
also possesses Ruby's teenaged daughter, making her speak in his
voice, fling things about psychically, and generally act completely
loco, much in the manner of the similarly possessed Linda Blair in
EXORCIST. Just a so-so effort which worked best when seen in real
drive-ins.
