After several reads of Go0se's last post, i think i now know what
hes trying to say.
To save the rest of you from deciphering his code, i think he means
the server FM was on, also hosted phishing sites.

Thanks Holidayguy. I am not entirely familiar with the dialect of
txt/733t Go0se is trying to use, but it seems like you are on the
right track. Go0se appears to be saying that a phishing site had
the same server address as FM and that this put FM on the banned
lists at a number of internet service providers.
However, I think I remember that FM ran on a dedicated server in
the possession of some member of the Task Force? I seem to recall,
when Mindy gave up running the site, that the server was shipped
from some location to some other location -- much like what is
alleged to be happening now.
Wasn't the "private server" story the standard explanation whenever
somebody complained about the creepingly slow page access, or the
odd-ball and antique forum design?

I'm sorry, but I'm still struggling to understand, because this is
a completely different explanation from what we were told before.
If Fictionmania's server has been blocked by most ISPs, why can't
the data and domain simply be moved to fmstories.com, which was
already hosting all the stories and was still accessible to
everyone as recently as a few days ago? Or are you trying to say
that this is an additional complication which has now shut down
fmstories.com, on top of the existing hardware and customs issues
that had (we were told) already shut down fictionmania.com?

This was old news. Last fall, FM's ISP hosted Fictionmania's
website as well as a phishing site. Bell South blocked the phishing
site, and inadvertently blocked Fictionmania at the same time..
Fictionmania moved their server away from the same block of servers
as the fishing site and restored service. THEN, the FM server
failed, leading us to the present situation.

Yes, I to thought the phishing story was old news. I'm sure FM is
on abdedicated server now. (or soon to be!)

Does anyone have DIRECT contact with those who are actually working
on the FM server issue? It would be nice to get their story of when
the site will be up again.

No site will replace Fictionmania!
Crap! It has had more than ten years to accumulate thousands of
stories!
Give it time! It's not the end of the world!

GoOse, are you on the Task Force? I am not sure. If you are, thank
you for posting this stuff; it really helps the people who are
frustrated with the wait, and not having access to the stories. It
is nice that you are giving people something to enjoy in the
interim.
If not, thanks anyway.
p.s. are the A reluctant spirit stories in there? Those were about
my favorite.
