not everyone is expecting a handout. Dig through the history of
these messages and you will see offers of cash AND technical
assistance thrown at the task force. So many people have offered
help to this group of people, with no interest.
If there are only TWO people on the Task Force that are technical,
and they both have health issues, it looks to me like they would be
more welcoming for the help that is being offered to them.
Yet again, this appears to be a small clique of people that are
opposed to allowing outsiders in.

Lolz if you understood anything about web coding you'd know that at
the moment MONEY isn't going to do any good. They're essentially
going through and recoding crap that doesn't work with the new
server. That can take time especially if the old server uses a
different OS.

I understand that post 302. But in the past, cash has been offered,
yet they refused it. Every inch of assistance that has been offered
has been refused since day one.

From the sounds of it then, they probably already had enough cash.

And they don't want unsolicited help.

say they do accept cash, then their put under even more presure
than they are now as they would feel they had to finish the site
according to the deadline that the denotee vaguely set out, if this
happens then the site, that was finished prematurely, is full of
bugs and unusable anyways upsetting everyone. and on the other
note, if they accept help from a third-party and if that
third-party makes a mistake that delays or even sets back the
repairs, the responsibility/blame will most likely be put on the
fictionmania codemonkeys instead of the third-party causing more
grief and accomplishing nothing anyways. so yes they might be
taking their sweet-ass time with it but which would you rather
have, a site full of bugs that makes it unusable? or a site that
actually worksand works good? like plenty of people said, there are
plenty of other sites with the same content so lay off and let them
do their work!

All I'd want is up to date news from the crew. It seems nothing is
happening.

Forestier, see post #293 for the reason there are no news updates.

Do you guys really think web coding is really such a unique and
arcane science? Come on, its not 1994. Unemployment is at 10-12%,
there are highly experienced people out there looking for jobs and
willing to work at very reasonable rates. Its extremely naive to
think that there are only two unhealthy, extremely busy people who
can be useful to the project. As an earlier poster astutely
mentioned, this is a clique who doesn't want anybody else involved
and doesn't want any accountability to creep in by accepting money.
At this point, I'm getting apathetic about the return and
antipathetic about anyone involved.
Marginal intentions + competence > good intentions and
incompetence

almost anything...
Come on people get a frickin' life

I saw a note at Crystal's story site that said the people behind
fiction mirror ran out of money.

maybe on a sligthly more constructive note, maybe people could post
links to sites they have found/use instead of fm. I'm particularly
interested in any of the sites mr. ram frequents.
