fm update
Hello again,
There has been some difficulty getting the fm.com url switched to
the new
server. Therefore, when we go back on line, we will be using the
new address of:
www.fictionmania.tv
As soon as the old fm.com address problem is straigthened out, both
addresses
will work.
We have had another delay. Talea, our server guru programming the
new machine,
has had the flu and has not had any time to work on the new
computer software
this week. Thankfully, she is getting better and should be able to
devote some
time to the server next week.
We are getting closer.

My my first guess was wrong, but this sounds promising and lets

Confirm.
There's an entry pending approval that changes link of
fictionmana.com to Fictionmania.tv. I guess it's best to wait for
fictionmania.tv fully comes online before making that change.

Hello again,
A few weeks before the fm server crashed I was thrown away by my
employer of
twenty years and had to take a job out of town. I only get to go
home on the
weekends and have not been able to do that much to get fm back up
and running.
Several people, geographically very far apart, pulled together to
get us as far
as we are. Glamour Boutique has been very supportive.
As soon as Talea completes the debugging process, we will be
functional again.
Webcatalog, which is the software code that gives fm the very
usable features
that is known and loved, has been giving problems as we have tried
to make it
work with the other new software on the server. We are, however,
getting closer.
I will post a somewhat detailed history of the fm outage when we
are back on
line.

fm update addendum
On a side note, I want every one who has sent me a personal email
concerning fm
to know that I really do appreciate your support. We have had so
many offers of
help, that it warms the heart.
FM is much more than a repository for fiction. It has become
different things to
many different people. Even though most people come to fm for
different reasons,
we have become one large "community".
If, because of my work schedule, I do not personally answer an
email, please do
not take offense. Most of the time, I am not able to communicate at
all during
the week and on the weekends, I am busy with family.

What's the over/under on the return of Fictionmania? The optimist
in me says St. Patty's Day, the pessimist says Memorial Day.
Therefore, I will predict:

An FM update for Sunday, March 15.

From The TG-Fiction Yahoo Group:
It appears as if the last fm server glitches are being taken care
of. Mindy is
an expert on webdna and is helping Talea with that software
problem. Webdna was
the operating software that gave fm the look and feel that made it
so popular.
It is very user friendly to the readers, but, much less so to the
programmers
setting up the software.
Until we can get the fictionmania.com url switched to the new
server, we will be
using www.fictionmania.tv as an internet address. When the old
address is
switched over, both addresses will work.

FM Update Sunday, March 22

Mindy has made quite a bit of progress on rewriting the fm code to
run on the
new server.
We are very close now. With Talea and Mindy working together, and
the support
from Glamour boutique, fm will rise again. It is probably only a
matter of days
until the grand re-opening.
