I don;t beleive that the recent entry for Flash Gordon counts as a transformation. One scene shows the disguised agent reaching into his abdomen to retrieve a device. At the entry point of his hand into his stomach, there was a visible distortion.

Seems more like a hologram generator. However, the device did allow the use to mimic the voice of the person being impersonated.

Yea , I think so ,too . I don't recall any of the other previous series where Ming was EVEN bother with venturing to the Earth . He'd maybe order some minion there , but that's all. His planet was too far away to just go there on a whem , anyway .
The animated series from(Filmation)the late 70's never had Ming to go there , but DID give reference to HIM having visited, courtesy of Adolf(Hitler) , helping him to start WW2 ,with either tech and arms or something in general for conquest .
That series was good ! Alot of the episodes were written by Samuel Peeples who wrote the plot for StarTrek 2 , and the classic original series episode "Where No Man Has Gone Before" with Gary Lockwood becoming the god-like man Kirk had to kill in the end .
I hope this Flash series doesn't try something stupid that interupts the character designs of the people of the world of Flash Gordon . That's why StarTrek hasn't done anything new . They don't know what to do with it because ITS about making money , NOT being creative . And things are not changing anytime soon . . .
