RE: Metamorphose LINKS page [Community Input & Help wanted]
From: cj , 102 months, post #1
I could use a little help from the community regarding our Links page.

I was going through the links again, and I'd love some help with sorting the "UNSORTED" links into the correct content-type category. If we need to add a new category for the type of content, let me know... or if one could have a better name, make a suggestion.

I would also like to know what type / category of transformation content can be found at each link. Yes, I know that some of these are already noted, but we might be missing one or two or ten.

For now, let's hold off on all the captions (caps) pages, we'll get to those. I can't remember how many there are, but if there are as many as I think there are, we'll probably need a separate page for them.

You might also notice, that I've used a suggestion to have the inactive links separated from the those sites that are still actively adding material. I decided to cull the dead links / bad links from the main list too.

Please let me know if this looks better, or just makes more of a mess of things.

Thanks everyone!

I already think it looks messy and too long. And again, I am against adding individual caption blogs and deviantart pages. Simple categories work better, we do not need 6-7 when 3 will do the job. Basically k.i.s.s.

If a site is inactive, that's one thing as well, yeah the tgfa is old, but it's still there as a resource and shouldn't be tossed in an inactive category. I just think the category is a waste.

I moved a few pages, and combined the story categories. Redundancies are a pain in the arse.

Fire away some suggestions for Categories... How would you organize the page?

I hear you on the caps and DeviantArt (hence why DeviantArt has links on one line to the search results for the most common TFs, instead of all the individual artists). We'll work on those at a later time. But for now, how would you change things?

One of ~my~ main issues with the old links page was that I wasn't sure what was on the other side of each link. What type of TFs did it showcase, and using what type of content? I didn't want to visit a site with stories when I was looking for video, or gender TFs when I was looking for animal stuff.

And the freshness dates I thought was a good idea too.

But perhaps that's just me. ~shrug~

I'm just not sure how to shorten things up without dropping all the extra stuff and cramming all the links into two or three columns and decreasing the text size (if I can).

So, I'm open to suggestions and comments. Especially if we can come up with something that works better than what I currently have setup.

I hear that. Looks good. Thanks!

RE: Inactive Links

I think I can figure out how to keep them in their respective categories and still tag them with some sort of "last active" / "inactive since" date. So, we'll see what the others think and go from there (or back, if necessary). :-)

From: cj , 102 months, post #7
Maybe we can do a little something like:

Listing transformation types available on the linked site with BLUE text.

Listing the latest / last date that a link was verified as GOOD with GREEN text.

Listing the date (or year) that the linked website was LAST ACTIVE / Last Update in ORANGE text.

Listing the first date the verifies a problem with a link being BAD / DEAD with RED text. And moving them to a DEAD and BAD LINK area at the bottom of the page. Also, perhaps we might want to delete the bad links outright if they're still bad or dead after 90 days.

And maybe we could get rid of the YELLOW / PROBLEMS text.

So the link entries would look something like:

ACTIVE
AR Archive -- Age Regression -- 2015 Nov 19
Transgendered Graphics and Fiction Archive -- Gender -- 2002 -- 2015 Nov 19

INACTIVE
Mantraverse -- -- 2015 Nov 19

Or perhaps we should have the "Last Active" date fall behind the "link working as of" date.

Transgendered Graphics and Fiction Archive -- Gender -- 2015 Nov 19 -- 2002

From: cj , 102 months, post #8
Oooops. That "INACTIVE" heading should have been "BAD or DEAD LINKS". Sorry about any confusion.

Okay, I gave this a weekend for community input, and didn't get any.

So, I'll give it one last push for any other ideas, thoughts, comments, suggestions.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm thinking that to help unclutter the Links, but still have some organization to them, we should go with The Man's idea of few content type categories - hopefully the ones that we currently have are okay.
For now, we'll leave the captions category alone - I'll sort through the Message Board posts and entries at a later date to see just how many we have - perhaps we'll need a new page for those. But we'll deal with that later.
I'm just not sure if we should keep the Inactive links separate from the others, or just note that they haven't been updated / active for awhile by simply noting the "Last Active" / "Last Updated" date. I'm leaning for the latter, having the link as normal but noting the last activity date/year.
And I'm thinking that for checking the links, having the "last activity" date come before the link "freshness" date (date last verified as a good link).
So, it would look something like this and under no heading at all (which would be just links or active links):
AR Archive -- Age Regression -- 2015 Nov 19
Transgendered Graphics and Fiction Archive -- Gender -- 2002 -- 2015 Nov 19
And under the BAD LINKS & DEAD LINKS heading:
Phlick Me -- -- 2015 Nov 19
The LEGEND (or key) for the page will probably be this:
LEGEND (How to read this page)
BLUE TEXT = Indicates the transformation CATEGORIES.
GREEN TEXT = Link was GOOD when checked on this date.
RED TEXT = Link was BAD when checked on this date.
ORANGE TEXT = INACTIVE -- No new activity listed since this date.
With the yellow text just going away.
Please let me know what you think.
All links on our Links page now have a "freshness date" on them.
Many still need category/categories, and a few are still unsorted - what type of content / media is on the other side?
I've gone about as far as I can go at the moment - your input is welcome.
From: cj , 101 months, post #11
Okay, every link in our Links page has been checked within the past 30 days (unless I missed one).
We are now down to only five (5) Unsorted links... because I wasn't sure where to put them / what category they would best fit under.
We're also still missing Transformation categories for many of the items, would love some help with that from those of you familiar with the websites / pages.
