Shapeshifter and Spellcaster (or caster)

Hmmmm....... Has anyone besides me noticed that some of the tv shows/video games/anime/cartoons (with shapeshifting and spellcasting) that have two characters with a very similar idea of what powers they have after what we have seen so far? I mean one character is a shapeshifter and the other character is a spellcaster.

For Example:
- Dewprism (Threads of fate) (one of my favorite games):
1.) Rue can transform into any mysterious or mythical creature and
2.) Mint can cast magic spells or element spells

- Ben 10:
1.) Ben can transform into any kind of Alien
2.) Gwen can cast any of kind of magic spells

- Teen Titans:
1.) Beast Boy can transform into any animal
2.) Raven can cast Spells, Dark Magic, Curses, and Magic

- Justice League:
1.) Shifter can transform into any white or albino creature
2.) Downpour can change, morph, cast, or shift into Water

- Wonder Twins:
1.) Zan can transform into water at any state (solid, liquid, gas) and add to his mass by incorporating water in his immediate area.
2.) Jayna can transform into any animal, whether real, mythological, indigenous to Earth or to some other planet

But when there are three characters:
For Example:
- Dewprism (Threads of fate):
1.) Rue can transform into any mysterious or mythical creature and
2.) Mint can cast magic spells or element spells
3.) Evil Character (Rue's Brother)

- Ben 10:
1.) Ben can transform into any kind of Alien
2.) Gwen can cast any of kind of magic spells
3.) Kevin (Neutral - Good or evil) can absorb matter/powers or something

Kind of similar to the idea on Naruto and Kingdom hearts (when there is a group of three friends and one of them could be bad)
Sora, Kairi, and Riku (Kingdom Hearts): Riku became bad
Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke (Naruto): Sasuke became bad
Jiraiya, Tsunade, and Orochimaru (Naruto Shippuden): Orochimaru became bad

it might not make any sense. But it's the best way how I can word it and explain it.

You do know that Shifter and Downpour *are* the Wonder Twins, right? Like the other clones in those episodes, they were reinventions of Super Friends- exclusive characters.
(Wind Dragon = Samurai, Juice=Black Vulcan, etc...)

To answer your question though...shapeshifting and magic are both rather versatile abilities so it makes sense to use them in tandem as they complement each other.
