Animals that symbolize or associate with Transformation
From: juupton , 113 months, post #1
Hmmmm... I wonder.

This probably might not relate to any of the topics on this community but I'll take my chances.

I was kind of wondering if anyone besides me notices that some of the transformations that we've seen so far that have been associating with some of the characters that look like a monkey and a chameleon.

For example:
Monkey Characters:
Monkey king - Journey to the west
Monkey Talisman - Jackie chan adventure
Monkey King Enma - Naruto

Chameleon Characters:
Change Card - CardCaptors (Body Swap)
Giant Chameleon - (Camouflaging/disguising itself as a haunted mansion)
Chameleon Dragon - Mon Colle knights (Body expansion)
Chameleon (Supervillain) - Spiderman (Disguises)
Chameleon space monster - Power Rangers in space (using it's tongue to switch positions with the enemy that his tongue touches)
Chameleon - The Mixed Up Chameleon book/film (Transforms in a multi-body part creature (or a chimera-like creature).

Hmmm... do you think these two animals would be two good examples to symbolize Transformation?

P.S. - I don't know this topic in this thread violates the rules or not, but if it does, then I'm sorry for doing unintentionally. I just thought it would relate to the topic of this community since this website talks about other kinds of transformations.

Transformation related AND of interest to the community. I think you're good.

Bats = Dracula
Wolves, Deer, Crows, Eagles (and I'm probably missing several) = Native American Spirits
Bear = At least one movie (and probably same as above)
Hawk & Wolf = "Ladyhawke"

Just some that immediately came to mind.

Chameleon seems the most likely one, which is probably why you see it so often. Their natural ability is to blend in.

I've always thought that another good representative is the fox. Cunning and sly.

From: juupton , 113 months, post #3
@Cj - Indeed.

The Fox is also good example as well. Like the Nine-tailed fox (in Japanese Mythology) can disguise itself as a beautiful woman. Hence why the Creator of Naruto got the idea of making Naruto doing the Sexy Jutsu but in a comedy way. hehe.

The Tanuki is a raccoon dog (in Japanese mythology) and it can also transform and disguise itself as well.

Oh crap, I forgot to put that the Giant Chameleon (Disguised as a haunted mansion) was from Naruto. hehehe. :P

A dark, sleek horse with a long wild flowing mane and luminescent golden eyes is also commonly associated with the shapeshifting Pooka. Most people associate a large invisible rabbit with this creature because of the movie "Harvey" but historically it most often takes the form of a horse.

"Fergus knew it was the Pooka, the wild horse of the mountains"

@juupton: In Japanese mythology this is known as a "Kitsune" or fox demon which often assumes the form of an attractive woman to deceive travelers. The number of tails indicates the age and power of the Kitsune.

@Lady Sekhmet - Thanks.

what, no cred for Coyote, be careful his tricks can be very mean if he feels insulted.

Surely the most obvious animals to associate with transformation are caterpillars and butterflies.
