BEFORE YOU POST A MESSAGE!!!
From: cj , 115 months, post #1
Just a quick reminder of the Posting Guidelines:

  • POSTS MAY BE REMOVED at the discretion of moderators for violation of guidelines/rules.
  • Please try to keep posts appropriate for younger teenage eyes to view (Things you'd be comfortable sharing with a 13 year-old).
  • Do not post advertisements.
  • One exception is for products or services that relate to entries on this site. And even then, only post an announcement once. You should add links or content to the appropriate database entries. Do not repeat this information to the message board. Doing so will be considered spamming.
  • Do not post direct links to complete copyrighted works. Links provided by (or approved by) the copyright holder may be exempt.
  • Do not plagiarize.
  • Do not post messages in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS.
  • Do not attack a user for improper spelling and/or grammar. Not all of our community uses English as their native language.
  • Please post in English, or include an English translation, when possible.
  • Please do not stray (far) from the topic of the original post.
  • Please keep the conversations civil. Do not 'attack' other posters.
  • You may attack an individual's comments but not the individual.
  • Do not pretend to be someone that you are not. Using an online alias is ok.
  • Be polite, courteous, and respectful.
  • If a poster provides their contact information for any reason, do NOT clutter the Message Board by asking them to contact you. They gave out their contact information for a reason.
  • When starting a New Message Thread, please include details about your topic of discussion or request in the Subject field to help draw in readers who are interested and avoid wasting the time of those who are not. Also helpful in searching for the topic/thread later.
  • If seeking material / information, include the results of your own efforts so that others can offer better help (and avoid wasting time and effort on redundant searches).
  • When starting a new thread to request material or information, please begin the subject with "REQ:" or "REQUEST".
  • No begging. Ask nicely.
  • Do not feed the trolls and spammers. Please ignore them.
  • Do not keep asking for clips after others have already posted information on where to obtain the material.
  • If you post a link, please provide some detail as to what it is. Identify the material if possible.
  • Please post clear spoiler warnings if you intend to give away details that would spoil the story for those who have not yet seen the material, preferably by using the <spoiler> tags (don't forget to close the spoiler text with the </spoiler> end tag).
  • No bumping. Bumping a thread is considered as bad manner here, since it doesn't add anything to the discussion of the thread. Bumping will be treated as intentional spamming the site and the post will be deleted, and the user did the bumping will be noted for future reference, ie. enter into the board's naughty users list.
  • etc...

Seriously, the Posting Guidelines are not that difficult to use and follow, and they are found below the Message entry box ALL THE TIME!

Please... be courteous... ESPECIALLY if you are asking the community for help! Good citizenship is its own reward.

Thank you.

Do not plagiarize? Are we being graded on something or going to make a profit on making threads and posts? If not, I don't think anyone will be plagiarizing.

And "Things you'd be comfortable sharing with a 13 year-old", why are you talking to a teenager about this stuff? Seems a little inappropriate and risky if you ask me but hey this is 2014 and YOLO.

13 year old... You need to start deleting a lot more posts on here then, either that or the suitability for a 13 year old is different there?

From: guest , 115 months, post #5
I just don't think the discussion of body swap fetishes and fantasies is suitable for 13 year olds. Besides, aren't they too busy with Taylor Swift, Hunger Games, and Skylanders?

From: cj , 115 months, post #6
Thanks for your discussion about the Posting Guidelines.

IIRC, every single guideline is in place due to a past problem with posts (usually recurring problems) on the message board... most of them have been in place for YEARS. I'm glad that some of you are just now taking the time to ask questions.

I'll try to address the questions so far.

"Do not plagiarize?"

This is more for submissions. Still, even for message board posts... Plagiarism is sometimes a violation of copyright law. Most of us would like to see the site steer clear of legal entanglement. It's simple, it's common sense... and anyone here should be quite capable of forming their own thoughts and ideas (without having to resort to copying someone else's words).

If you do need to quote someone... use quotation marks... and cite the author / your source.

"13 year old... ?"

Yep. We don't always catch them all. Remember most of these guidelines are not hard and fast, concrete, black & white rules. So there is some flexibility... just as there's a bit of grey area on what would be considered appropriate for 13 year-old eyes.

"... don't think the discussion of body swap fetishes and fantasies is suitable for 13 year olds."

Depends on what you're talking about and how you're saying it.

Mentioning a fetish or sex shouldn't be taboo - most 13 year olds should already have some basic knowledge of what these things are / mean. Going into graphic detail on the other hand... probably not appropriate.

As for body swaps (or transformations), in general -- they've been exposed to this for years by the mainstream media - just browse through the catalog.

"Besides, aren't they too busy with... ?"

They've shown up here before. Tell me you didn't have any TF / TG thoughts / fantasies until AFTER you turned 18.

Yes there are some adult materials cataloged and linked here. But this site itself is GENERALLY safe for those who aren't quite "Adult" yet - the cataloged / linked content is USUALLY controlled by another party who must determine the age issue before catering to the viewer / reader.

If you have any more questions or concerns about the Posting Guidelines, I guess this is as good a thread as any to discuss them. Thanks.

Oh... also.

"You need to start deleting a lot more posts on here then, either that or the suitability for a 13 year old is different there?"

If you see something we miss. Call our attention to it - we'll take a look and do our best to make a decision about it.

Thanks.

I was interested in body swaps and transformation well before the age of 13... going all the way back until I was five or six. I don't think it was a fetish for me, and I still don't think it is; it was an is a way of dealing with my transsexualism. The internet hadn't quite gone mainstream when I was 13, so I wasn't frequenting transformation-related websites then, but I was probably visiting them by the time I was 16.

Writing.com has a lot of TG transformation stories with main characters as young as eight or so years old. (That is, they start out as eight-year-old boys.) Perhaps these stories are written by adults, but they might also be written by children.

Discussing transformation isn't inherently inappropriate for children. Discussing it in certain ways and with certain language probably is.

"Do not post messages in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS."

Is it too snarky to point out that the title of this thread is in allcaps? :P

From: guest , 115 months, post #10
That's cool, but I think maybe the not suitable for work stuff should maybe just be deleted, if a parent of a 13 year old saw them looking at the links posted on here I think they may be a bit upset

From: guest (Franklin) , 115 months, post #11
Cj man, it is getting really annoying to come on here and every day see threads posted by you or deleted by you about the rules. It comes across as whiny and self important. At a certain point, as you say, they are grey areas. You really should relax some. This is a community forum, forums (online or otherwise) that are strongly censored can't fulfill their sole purpose for existing. Chill out, please don't let the fact that people gave you positive feedback regarding your rule enforcement in that other thread get to your head. Every time I see you posting in a thread where someone is trying to identify a YouTube link or tv show snarkily referring back to other threads i roll my eyes. It doesn't feel like you're doing it to be helpful. That's not what we come here for. This forum is old and the search function sucks, especially if you don't know the title of the content you're trying to find. Most forums post 2004 allow you to browse all threads instead of hiding them behind a weak search function. So chill out or you're going to end up slowly sucking the life out of this place until it's dead. We come here for new content, a good mod should be invisible and not getting in the way of that.

From: guest (Cajun) , 115 months, post #12
I agree with Franklin. Chill out CJ.

"the title of this thread is in allcaps"

I was waiting for someone to mention that. That was on purpose, to grab everyone's attention. It is one of those "important for everyone to know" threads. :-)

Franklin & Cajun - Noted.

I've done my best recently to simply redirect to the existing thread without the snark. The search function works wonderfully for popping in the youtube video ID and digging up the old thread with the appropriate answer (if any).

I try to be an active member here... But, I guess I'll sit back for a while and just jump in if needed (or can answer a question).
