anyone else notice the movie cover is different between the amazon
and iTunes versions?

Not much different. Could be the difference between SD and HD (DVD
vs Blu-Ray).

Variants of covers between formats (DVD and Bluray as one example)
and even countries/regions are fairly common.
So ... who wants to be the one to post a review of the finished
product in this thread as a chapter in its life comes to a close
(the pre-movie chapter that is - festival screenings tend not to be
accessible to all unfortunately).
It's been an epic journey and an honor to serve with all of you.

The Wal Mart website photoshopped a bra on Natalie Knepp on the
cover of their dvds.

Well, at least they're selling it at all.
Question for you Saint, if they just showed the segment from when
Sam comes to work the first time after, could it fool someone into
thinking it's from a US version of Lalola? I mean, I've seen that
bit where Sam goes the route of pretending to be a cousin. What
about the other office stuff during that section of the film?

"It will be available at the iTunes store on September 27th."
8 days or so, 11 posts to go, it might be a close one to hit 400
before this one is out.

From what I remember about Lalola there's a Boss at the office
(whose actually a nice guy) and then Lalo is his best employee and
then Lalos best friend is a lecherous jerk. Sam is similar but
there are some differences. Sams boss is a combination of the lech
and the mentor. However, he is kept partially in check by the owner
of the company Morgan Fairchild. Even though there are some
similarities I wouldn't say Sam was influenced by Laloa but it
would not surprise me at all if Nicholas Brooks had seen the show
and drew some inspiration. what disappoints me about the DVD is the
lack of extras and you can tell they must have cut scenes for
pacing or rating.

While it's possible he saw it, the script was probably written with
a lead-in time to production that goes back to when it was
difficult to find Lalolas outside their respective countries, maybe
even before they were running. I don't know the date the script was
conceived relative to the Lalolas coming out.
I suspect any similarities are more attributable to the fact that
"mainstream" professional productions tend
to call upon the same tropes or archetypes of "sexist gets karmic
comeuppance, hi-jinks ensue, then he comes to some sort of
transformative realization". I say "mainstream" even though this is
an indie production. Few of them actually make it to the box office
because of the niche appeal and maybe they think this formula is
the easiest sell for the sex-change themed movie.

Well said, vup. The biggest similarity between "Sam" and "Lalola"
from gender-benders in the past is that the misogynist protagonist
chooses to stay a woman and pursue a romantic relationship. You
could even say that Cleo/Leo was the source of inspiration since
that movie came out in the 80s. Even before Switch.
The biggest difference with Sam is that this is the first TG movie
I've ever seen where the main character's friend struggles to comes
to terms with the transformation as much as the transforme.

I'm gladly going to pay the 10 dollars for the dvd on Amazon. I'd
pay 20 for it just as easy because not only am I happy it's finally
getting released but I want the producers to know that they made a
movie and story that is very sought after and loved. So hopefully a
lot of people will buy it as well for the same reasons.

Is it realistic? Wouldn't most men do everything in their power to
get their bodies and penises back?
|
From: guest

I don't know, having not experienced the body of a woman I can not
honestly say which is better, nor can anyone. Men that say they
would hate being a woman or that being a man is surely better are
just naïve and closed minded. Until science gets to the point where
people can try out both we will never know.

I just think most men wouldn't give up their manhood. And if they
were turned into women but had a chance to go back to being a man,
80 to 90 percent of them would go back to manhood.
