Here's an idea for a story, and if something similar already exists
please point me to it.
Imagine a future where body swap were possible and somehow
regulated by the state. So there would be "body swap
professionals", who may do tasks in the body of the client that
they aren't able to do due laziness, lack of courage, you name it.
The best example that occurs to me is for example a woman that
wants to lose weight but is lazy enough to actually train, so
instead she hires a personal trainer that body swaps with her for
an hour a day and does the workout for her. It could also be done
for work, sports, etc
Does any story like this already exist?

I remember one like that on fictionmania. I think a woman wanted to
quit smoking so she let a guy from a professional body swap company
trade with her. But then she runs away with his body and he is
stuck in hers. It's from his pov. No idea what the name was.

There was also one where the boyfriend was concerned about his
girlfriend's health, and swapped with her (while she was sleeping,
IIRC) so that he could work-out with her body and get her in better
shape. I can't remember the name of this one either.

I love this idea. The movie Exchange comes to mind. A guy had
swapped bodies with trainer. He was in the same room watching as he
had worked his body out. The movie was about swapping with others
over distances to cut out travel. They were somewhat controlled by
the government. Some people had illegal machines and different
people would host parties and have orgies. I think they were
referred to as floaters.

I've thought about this idea before. I like the idea of extremely
good looking people renting their bodies out to unattractive people
for the night or the weekend, so they can go out and experience
what it's like to be beautiful. Or perhaps a woman (wife and
mother) in her mid-30s wants a "break" from married life, so she
rents the body of a good looking 21 year old in order to go out,
hook up with a guy and have fun....or maybe she wants to be the
guy.

Vaguely remember some of that in Tower To the Sky

and/or The Bug Life Chronicles. An athlete winds up in a morbidly
obese body, and interestingly, people go into storage and rent a
body at intervals to see how the future turns out.

Regarding the book Tower to the Sky, is it worth reading the whole
book? How much time does the story stay with the old man in the
woman's body?

Going a bit further, if the technology would exist these days I can
imagine an ebay-like website (rentabody.com? lol) where you could
browse bodies for rent filtering by gender, age, body-type, etc
Hope some writer is reading this!

Probably be more like Match.com than ebay. Kinks, habits,
addictions, restrictions, body dimensions and types, hair and eye
color, age range, ink and/or piercings... partner or not / partner
willing to participate or not... Depth or isolation of swap... So
many variables.
