They found Sam. Brock Harris has been cast as Sam an boy does this
guy look like an Alpha Male. He has some film and theater
experience and he seems like a charismatic guy from this interview.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeLYwK69DKM
I was kind of hoping they'd find a guy who looked like he could be
Natalie Knepp's brother (like in the movie Mechtat ne vredno)
because I got the impression that he's changed into his genetically
female equivalent but Harris has blue eyes while Knepp has brown.
Maybe they scrapped that concept or maybe they'll give him contact
lenses.
In any event it's exciting to see all of these casting updates.
With Harris they can actually start shooting / rehearsing / etc.

Marilyn Sokol, an old character actress and comedian, has been cast
in the small but funny part of Mrs. Goldfarb.
When Sam wakes up as Samantha she runs to the office of her best
friend, Doc who is a gynecologist. In a panic Sam kicks the door
open on Doc while Mrs. Goldfarb has her feet in the stirrups. With
Ms. Sokol comedy background I can imagine this scene being pretty
funny.
Sokol is a woman you might recognize by her face if not her
reputation. I was actually taken back when I realized she provided
the voice of Ma Otter for one of my favorite Holiday Specials "Jim
Henson's Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas".

Yeah, Brock Harris doesn't look much like Natalie Knepp. If
anything, he actually looks a little like Sarah Scott.
I guess hair dye and colored contacts can change a lot, though.

They JUST recast the role of Stephen so it's possible Natalie Knepp
might get recast. I'd much rather see Natalie than Sarah. I think
Sarah is better cast as Doc's flakey girlfriend and Samantha's
competition.

Whoever is updating the IMDB page for SAM just changed the actor
for the role of Stephen to from Bobby Kruger to Tom Pelphrey and
updated the date to a 2014 release.

Wow! Natalie is so attractive, perfect for this role. I'm quite
excited about this, when is it projected to come out? 2015/2016?

FINALLY. Some confirmation from a cast member. Sarah Scott tweeted
"Happy New Year Friends!! I am so excited to announce that I will
be joining the spectacular cast of "SAM" and will be headed up to
NYC to begin filming in a few short weeks. Stay tunedlaughs to be
had!"
That means the January 6th start date I saw was accurate. Sarah is
a supporting cast member so her scenes are probably scheduled a few
weeks into principle photography. If they're are shooting in
January then a 2014 release date (midsummer or fall) is realistic.

My biggest fear is that the actors playing Sam and Samantha will
try playing the part with a New York accent. Keep it real.

Steve/Amanda's NY accent in SWITCH really annoyed me. I haven't
gotten any indication that they'd go that route but then I've only
found bits and pieces of information about the project.

Why was it annoying? Switch takes place in NYC. Ellen Barkin is a
native New Yorker too. What type of accent did you want Amanda to
have? A southern accent?

Just a personal preference. I thought Barkin was laying it on a
little thick. Overall I think she is/was an underrated actress and
her performance was the best part of that movie.
Now here's something ironic . . . Bruce Willis dropping the NY
accent in the last two Die Hard movies really felt lazy and annoyed
me. Go figure.

They have accents in New York!?

WHATEVER the accent they use or don't use, I'm really glad that
this movie is being made. I think most of us are, whether we live
here in Philly (Yo!) or New Yawk. Thank heavens SAM overcame the
hurdles and is moving forward

The accents in switch did annoy me. The movie annoyed me. I just
hope that they don't try to model the movie after Switch. I really
want to see them try to differentiate from that movie and not
having a NY accent would be a nice start.

I've read bits and pieces of the script and even the big scene at
the end. I am extremely excited that this movie is going to start
shooting Monday.
Tonally it's more like Lalola than Switch. However, the big
difference (that I'm excited about) is the best friend, who is the
love interest, knows Samantha was Sam.

Thanks, thesaint. Any chance you could post a spoiler about the big
scene at the end??? Thanks again.
