~PERSONAL RANT ~

Do NOT expect us to do a simple Google search to find your content for you.

If you are not capable of performing a simple web search, get some help and learn!

And for the love of all that is good... don't request "where to watch" the material in a REVIEW thread. The Review threads are for reviews and discussion of the reviews. Please try to stay on topic.

You should create a new message thread to ask for where you can watch -- simply choose the "New Thread" or "Write a New Message" link. Title your post such as "Looking for Content title/name", and ask your question.

~End of PERSONAL Rant ~

From the Posting Guidelines :
"If seeking material / information, include the results of your own efforts so that others can offer better help (and avoid wasting time and effort on redundant searches)."

Now that I'm done overreacting ... The "The Gift" episode of Port Charles appears to be available on YouTube and other streaming websites. There were several that popped-up on my first search with Google. Of course, I'm in the USA, so if you're elsewhere, your results may vary. My search was ~~ port charles episode "the gift" stream ~~

"chill out man"

Thanks, The Dude. Sometimes one just wants to pull their hair and scream. That's what that post was, essentially. Hence why it was listed by me as both a "personal rant" AND an "overreaction".

I know that things often go off-topic even I am not immune to it. Sometimes it takes a little effort from everyone to help make the place look nice and keep things organized. That was part of the post (basically, don't hi-jack a review thread to ask where to find the video).

When you add that to the fact that the request post that set me off seemed so easily answered with a simple Google search. And well... my human side (being imperfect) broke through... and we got the OP post above.

You know, I don't normally agree with users who are obvious angry trolls, but that one dude Disease from a different thread was right on the money. The admins here are a little too loose with their power, and they don't know how to properly use it. What's the point in just starting a thread to rant about something that most people are going to ignore anyways? The way you highlight everything and quote things makes it look like you are treating us like idiots and I find it offensive.

You honestly could've gotten a point across with a quick-burst paragraph, but you constantly hammered the point home as you complained about something relatively minor. People are always going to be too lazy to do quick searches through google, its a common occurrence. Complaining about this is like complaining about birds crapping on your windshield. You should honestly just start a thread dedicated to warning people about obeying the rules. There is no need for so many threads about minor rules that few people obey. And if I recall, this is the second time CJ went ballistic over something minor and than apologized as if that makes it right. This is something that could get you canned as an admin on any other site.

These posts weren't for those who ignore things - as you said, they'll ignore it anyway. That's what the moderators are for, keeping the place somewhat civil and organized.

I'm sorry that you feel that the admins are "too loose with their power". We do try our best, unfortunately we are still human.

"You honestly could've gotten a point across with a quick-burst paragraph"

Obviously, I'm not as eloquent as you.

"... you constantly hammered the point home as you complained about something relatively minor."

What part of "overreaction" did you not understand?

"There is no need for so many threads about minor rules that few people obey."

Please link me to these other threads. I don't remember creating any - therefore there should be "so many" of them. But I could be mistaken.

"... this is the second time CJ went ballistic over something minor..."

Depends on your definitions of "ballistic" and "minor". No matter though, I'm sure it's not just the second time that I've made controversial choices or comments over all these years. Nor am I the only one, that is why we have more than one moderator / trusted user here. If any one of us is making an unjust/unfair decision or questionable choice - the rest of us will balance that out and more of less open our eyes to the issue at hand.

"... and than apologized as if that makes it right."

Not to "make it right", but to acknowledge that I had made a mistake, rather than make excuses or try to cover it up.

"This is something that could get you canned as an admin on any other site."

If I am causing more work or problems here than I'm doing good, or is necessary - I'm sure our wonderful leader would just as soon pull my privileges, than leave me to cause everyone else work / trouble / grief.

Finally, I ~am~ relaxed, have been since a few seconds after I posted the OP. I do NOT discount the issues that have been brought up in this thread. Because there are only three posts, I can assume that there are at least a couple of dozen people who feel the same way. I also see that there appear to be many users who either just ignored me altogether, or took the post as it was... a rant spurred by an overreaction to a minor thing... nothing more. Not an abuse or over-use of power. Anyone could have done the same thing - there was a thread about Admins/Mods and this power thing.

As long as it pertains to transformations (or swaps), this website, or other things that may be of interest... then this is where we discuss it. Nothing more, nothing less.

Personally, I think that this was a good thread. It brought something to the attention of people who may not have known... and it has prompted me to better filter myself before making any decisions or posts here. All I can say is, "Thank you", "I'm sorry", and "I'll try better."

Everyone who thinks there are "admins" or "moderators" on this website is wrong, so complaining about them is pretty pointless. It is at the discretion of the Trusted Users to try to enforce Paul's posting guidelines as they see fit. It's voluntary and subjective. If there were actual moderators responsible for policing the message board then some of the complaints that show up over and over might bear some weight. As it stands it's going to be arbitrary and at times people may not agree. It's not misusing "power", it's just what happens when anyone can say whatever they want anonymously and often don't use good judgement.

Okay, that's the end if my rant. I feel better now too.

From: guest (Too funny) , 121 months, post #8
Just think it's too funny that the complaints about admins often come from someone who's too paranoid to register with the site in the first place. As if they already have something to hide. Yet don't acknowledge this key freedom to the site that many other forums don't have. That you can be as anonymous as you want. That's not about control or abusing power. That's the freedoms of voicing or trolling an opinion without the fear of consequence. But Paul still wants these threads to be civil. And the admins are there every day without being paid to do so.

From: guest (Disease) , 121 months, post #9
Funny how you stick up for the admins, yet you break one of their core rules in the process. You can attack a person's comment, but not the individual. You called me paranoid without any indication that I was so. See, I'm not so ignorant that I wouldn't know the rules. I don't sign up because I don't want to. It has nothing to do with being paranoid. I honestly don't like these admins because I feel they are corrupt and unfair.

Its like that with any system, be it political, a forum, or real life. If I think these people are cruel and inhumane, than that's my own opinion. Besides, I know CJ in real life and he behaves and acts a lot differently there than he does here. I'll leave it at that, as I don't like leaking personal info. I'm not a "troll" because I'm bored or have too much free time. I'm just speaking the truth because I have disdain for how these people can barely handle a small community. If they removed the guest system, than 50% of their problems would vanish. You do realize that half of the actual troll attacks come from this system. You can blame that system as the core reason why I was able to "attack" this forum in the first place. They say that the greatest evil is the one that creates evil itself.

"Just think it's too funny that the complaints about admins often come from someone who's too paranoid to register with the site in the first place."

I saw that as an opinion more than an attack... could be because it seemed to be directed at a group (guest posters / non-registered users) and not any one individual in-particular. Still, a debatable comment that could have gone either way... and these are guidelines (we want to follow the spirit), not hard and fast rules (followed to the letter).

I'm sorry that you felt it was a personal attack... and that we seemingly ignored it. I'd remove that part of it now (seeing it with a different perspective), but since it's now part of the discussion... just seems moot.

So... Too Funny, please consider your wording better next time, to avoid confusion / misinterpretation.

"I know CJ in real life"

That's cool. Sorry that I don't recall if that's reciprocal. Or perhaps you're thinking of another "cj" - either way, still cool. Not too many of us actually know each other outside of this forum. And...

"... as I don't like leaking personal info."

Thank you! Whether it's me or another "cj", and registered or not, I'm sure we all appreciate what little anonymity we have left.

"... "attack" this forum..."

If you're talking about your thread from a while back, I never saw it as an "attack"... more like a critique or review. IMO, it was a legitimate concern based on your observations, experiences and such. I'm sure I'm not the only one who looked at those concerns with some prompting to self-improve (at least in their moderating duties).

"... he behaves and acts a lot differently there than he does here."

Hmmm... I'll have to keep an eye on that, didn't realize that I was that different. BTW - which is better, my online or RL self? :-) I'd like to think I'm a fair and fairly decent person... but self-reflection is always flawed... and there's always room for improvement.

"I'll leave it at that"

Yeah, maybe that's a good idea. I'll stop trying to figure out how we know each other now, and just keep working on being a better "admin" / "mod" / Trusted User... and person.

From: guest (Disease) , 121 months, post #11
Well, maybe its a different CJ I'm thinking of. You have similar traits as he does, the same name, and the similar liking of TG. Plus, he's an admin on a fetish forum too. I was a little too hard on the admins here, part of it was that I was in a dark place and I have a dislike for authority. And do I have to thank you for one thing, reading your comment got rid of a bad headache I had. So, you all aren't that bad.

From: cj , 121 months, post #12
"... I was in a dark place..."

I understand that. Been there a few times in the past. Usually, those dark places take me offline... but there are times... ~sigh~ I totally understand.

"I was a little too hard on the admins here..."

I venture to say that we lived regardless of the lashing.

"And do I have to thank you for one thing, reading your comment got rid of a bad headache I had. So, you all aren't that bad."

Glad to help. You're welcome.

guest (Disease), I can understand your feelings about the admins/mods/trusted users. I won't deny that in the past, some of us have taken our...privileges on this site a little too far. I hope that you and anyone else reading this can forgive us and come to think of us not as authority figures but more as concerned citizens, just like you, trying to keep the peace.

CJ was actually the one who made me a trusted user in the first place. And since then I have done my best to do my part to improve a community that I can't tell anyone I'm a part of. it may sound conceited, but for some of us it's a fact that this is the only "community outreach" many of us will ever have. Trusted user may have the ability to moderate this site, but we still come here because it's one of the few places where we truly feel we have a voice. And I promise you, I will never force that voice to be silenced.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but that was our Fearless Leader. :-)

Well yeah, but I think it was because you asked him to. ;-)
